Haystock Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon

August 20, 2008

This is something worth flying to Portland,Oregon to see, (besides your dear childhood friend) then driving 70 miles to the beach.  A lava formation that stands 235 feet tall, it just sticks out of the water like Mont St. Michel on the Normandy Coast of France.  Only it’s not inhabitated by a living thing just seagulls all around.  Haystock Rock is located in Cannon Beach, a very nice Pacific Ocean town with most swimmers only getting their feet wet.  Lots of people sunning on the beautiful beach.  To the north, some of the towns even allow cars and horses on the beach.
