When taking a flower arranging course at Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, we were asked to bring in our favorite vase to use in the class. The participants showed and telled about their vases. Ours was a World War I mortar shell.  The mottled sides and curled back bullet holds a lily of peace while the horse draws pass the men unknown.
