Tulipiere

This early 17th century Delft pottery pyramid vase is from the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The one metre (40 inches) high tulipiere was inspired by Chinese exported pottery and can hold 36 flowers. Clay differed from each country so the colors differed as well, the Delft faience (porcelain) not as translucent as the Chinese. Visit the Rijksmuseum site to see more lovely tulips and tulipieres.
