Look closely. No you will not see it but perhaps you will feel it. There is a certain abandonment about how the flowers sit in this arrangement. We used chicken wire and the ball of it that we taped down into the vase is irregularly shaped lending itself to an ebb and flow. The flowers […]
For months this vase has been staring at me. What flower to match with it. The only flower I could think of was the yellow mimosa and that has not yet hit the market. Yesterday I bought these huge cattails, the last week that several of the fall flowers will be available including that wonderful […]
Our sprinkle of snow yesterday is nothing compared to the four feet of snow they got in South Dakota two weeks ago. The drifts made it higher. This arrangement has the air (thistle) the snow (poms) and the white stalks in a silver blue and muted green vase. It retails for $20.
This Asiatic Lily is called Fango. Its color, red, is lighter on the red spectrum scale but blends nicely with the deeper reds of Freedom and Black Magic roses.
Such a dilemna. How to decorate the mantle for the holidays. Here is a vase full of heather precariously sitting at the edge. There is approximately 16 inches high to the speaker and 16 inches wide from the TV. We could play “Chesnuts roasting on the open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, Yuletides […]
Moses supposes his toses are roses but Moses supposes erroneously… today Moses would choose the Mini Mighty Carn for his toes. They won’t wilt and last forever. Further south on the African Continent according to the Floraculture International Magazine, Kenya grows carnations. They use to be the number one exported flower but now fall to […]
There are perhaps two schools of thought – to take the leaves off of the stalk or leave them on. Our thought is to keep those leaves that are above water on. They help secure the other flowers and while for instance rose leaves aren’t the prettiest they serve the purpose of a prop. This […]
See YouTube CarlisleFlowers.net for live. Mr. Potato Head has red carnation hair plugs. They are looking pretty good. He has a pencil thin mustache and his eyes are very bright. Mrs. Potato Head has a jaunty hair style, feminine and curly. Her eyes are hiding behind some sunbeam sunglasses. Her lips are the same color […]
Isn’t this an incredible stump. Heather seemed so appropriate to sit in its hollow. It’s an earthy flower with tough branches for its stalks. To keep the irregularly shaped stalks upright we put some rotten branches in the vase to create a grid to keep the heather in place. Easier to be a stump.
Maryvale Castle in Brooklandville, Maryland is a lovely venue for an affair. Here the bride chose lit curly willow branches to effect a “Lord of the Rings” ambience. The dark wood paneling was displaying in a light twinkling way.
Do you remember Composition Tablets? You used them to practice writing your letters. Here we have a student in First Grade who has accomplished the basic writing skills but when the teacher is not watching draws between the lines and goes round and round about the lines. Why do we need to grade the natural […]
How many petals does a ranunculas have? Let me count the ways. Each petal is part of the concentric rings where inside the “circle of trust” (Robert De Niro in “Meet the Parents”) more petals come forth. The little green seeds are berzelia.
