The sunshine is yellow waxflowers with a red center and the salal leaves wrap the pot with a golden ribbon.

This holiday centerpiece would look good on the table, fireplace or foyer.  Nicely wrapped with magnolia leaves, the alstromeria and waxflowers will last at least a week.

The Bachelors Cotillon in Baltimore takes place traditionally the Friday after Thanksgiving. Begun in the mid 1790s, the Members of the Cotillon presented their daughters at an evening ball at various venues over the years, the most notable of which, and for the most past century, was at the Baltimore Lyric Opera House (commencing in […]

Lily. What is a word that describes a fully opened lily? What would you liken it to? A five pointed star opening up your heart in yoga would be my first reaction but that is not one word. Would you use an emotion, like joy? Would you say it’s male or female, or have traits […]

When thinking of a floral gift for a dear one, don’t forget the Christmas Cactus.  It comes in red and white and with proper care will prosper in your sunny window throughout the year when blooms will appear the next year.       Christmas Cactus

It’s a funny thing about using lilies. I’ve kept these in the sunlight and close to a heat source. It’s Friday and such an […]

Leonidas roses are choice during the Thanksgiving season so their price rises accordingly. One-third. But my, isn’t the rust stunning. You’ll see more of them coming up.

Sunday morning, 15 miles north of Baltimore is the prettiest horse country. Driving up I-83 a hawk circles and then swoops pass the car having caught his prey faster than the car sped. Approaching the town of Monkton a Confederate flag flies. Less than a mile away an Obama/Biden plackard stands. One can only think […]
